THE WOUND & SATAN SAID DANCE WIN AT CINEMA JOVE FESTIVAL

Last weekend two of our co-productions won important prizes at the Cinema Jove festival in the Spanish city Valencia. Both films won two awards. The Wound by director John Trengove, a film we made in co-operation with South-Africa, was awarded with the Moon of Valencia (award for best feature film). Also main actor Nathan Touré won the prize for best actor. The Polish actrice Magdalena Berus was awarded as best actrice for her role in our Polish-Dutch movie Satan Said Dance, in which Dutch actor Tygo Gernandt plays an important part as well. This film also won the award for best cinematography by Virginie Surdej.

The Wound, which treats South-African taboo subjects like homosexuality and circumcision, premiered at the prestigious Sundance Festival earlier this year and later opened the Panorama at Berlinale. The Wound will have its Dutch premiere at the World Cinema Festival in Amsterdam this August.

Satan Said Dance by director Katarzyna Roslaniec is about the successful writer Karolina (Magdalena Berus) whose life full of parties, travels, drugs, booze and total emptiness, starts falling apart after the success of her best-selling novel. Satan Said Dance premiered at the Festival International du Film Indépendant de Bordeaux (FIFIB) in Fance and the South by SouthWest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. In May the film premiered in Polen where 60.000 people came to see it.

The Wound was funded by the Dutch Film Fund, Hubert Bals Fonds, Filmfonds Hamburg Schleswig Hollstein and the Torino Filmlab. Satan Said Dance was supported by the Dutch Film Fund and Production Incentive.
