Donderdagavond heeft in New York het gala van het TriBeCa Film Festival plaatsgevonden. De Nederlandse korte film HOUVAST (Hold on) van Charlotte Scott-Wilson heeft de award gewonnen voor Best Narrative Short.<\/p>\n

HOUVAST is geregisseerd door Charlotte Scott-Wilson, die het scenario samen met Marielot van der Slikke schreef. In de korte film ontwikkelt\u00a0een jonge, getalenteerde celliste van de ene op de andere dag podiumangst, nadat \u00e9\u00e9n van haar snaren losschiet tijdens een belangrijk concert.<\/p>\n

De winst van HOUVAST in de competitie is extra belangrijk omdat Tribeca de status bezit van kwalificatiefestival voor de Oscars. Dat houdt in dat HOUVAST nu ook genomineerd kan worden voor de Oscar voor Beste Korte Film.\u00a0Charlotte Scott-Wilson: \u201cIk ben heel trots op deze bekroning. De film is ge\u00efnspireerd door waargebeurde verhalen over het gebruik van alcohol en verslaving in de muziekindustrie. Ik hoop met deze film een lans te breken, zodat mensen minder bang worden om over hun angstgevoelens te praten.\u201d<\/p>\n

De jury van de Best Narrative Short Competition bestond uit Mike Birbiglia, Chloe Grace Moretz en Sheila Nevins.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe jury was moved by one particular film because it is simultaneously about the price of performance, and the entirely unique idea that the protagonist\u2019s musical performance itself succeeds on the back of her own self-doubt, torture, and anxiety. We were also blown away by the remarkable performance of the lead actress in both her emotional depth combined with her musical proficiency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Het festival, dat in 2002 werd opgericht door Robert de Niro en Jane Rosenthal om New York na 11 september een hart onder de riem te steken, werd voor de 15e keer gehouden. De jubileumeditie telde 102 speelfilms, 74 korte films en 38 storytelling projecten uit in totaal 42 landen.
